So, I'm not quite sure how many people read this, but I was at CES these past 2 days. It was an AMAZING experience, and I'd love to come back next year as press instead of just a spectator.
Anyways, just wanted to give you a small preview of what to expect this coming year, particularly, what products I really liked.
Of course, my lone self can't quite compete with larger organizations who actually employ people to go around the floor and cover this massive show. By massive, I'm not kidding either. I mean, there was an estimated 170,000 people in attendance this year, it took 30 minutes to comute to the convention center by bus, despite the fact that my hotel was roughly half a mile away. (I ended up walking back and forth a couple times). Anyways, as I was saying, other press organizations have more comprehensive coverage than I do, so for other opinions and greater details, I'd recommend you check out sites like Cnet ( http://www.cnet.com) that have streaming videos, multiple editors covering multiple industries, etc. (they have macworld coverage too :P)
So, what did I see?
1) Blu-ray v. HD-DVD 2) Canon's HD line of camcorders (particularly the HDV10) 3) Windows Vista 4) .net microframeworks development 5) HUGE LCD/PLASMA tvs using various technologies (TI's DLP tech was greatly advertised this year) 6) AMAZING cellphones from Samsung, Nokia, and a few from Motorola (not to mention the new apple iphone...)
Oops, gotta get ready to board my flight to Newark. I'll post more in the next few days! |
